Plumber – Maintenance Role at HMP Risley (Temporary)

About the role

This temporary position is for a qualified plumber to join the maintenance team at HMP Risley, based in Warrington. You will work on a shift pattern covering 39 hours per week, including occasional weekends, delivering essential plumbing and maintenance services within the prison environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine and non‑routine maintenance tasks, including fault finding and repair of plumbing systems.
• Identify and replace equipment that has reached the end of its service life.
• Perform water sampling, mains water supply repairs, and risk assessments.
• Work at height and in all weather conditions as required.
• Support zero‑carbon initiatives and ensure health & safety standards are met.

Required profile

• Full driving licence.
• Relevant trade qualification – Level 3 (NVQ) in Plumbing and Heating preferred; NVQ Level 2 also considered.
• Experience operating light plant equipment.
• Ability to work on a shift pattern with weekend duties.
