PMLD Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for compassionate individuals with a background in social or residential care to join schools in Bath as PMLD (Physical and Medical Disabilities) Teaching Assistants. The role is part‑time during school hours and focuses on supporting pupils with complex physical, medical and behavioural needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with additional needs during lessons and throughout the school day.
• Provide personal care and assistance with mobility as required.
• Help students stay focused, engaged and motivated in their learning.
• Promote inclusion, independence and emotional well‑being.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other staff to deliver consistent support.

Required profile

• Experience as a social care worker, support worker or in a residential care setting.
• Comfortable delivering personal care and supporting physical needs.
• Calm, compassionate and adaptable approach to working with children and young people.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Passion for helping pupils achieve their full potential in an educational environment.

Required skills

What we offer

• Competitive daily rate of £90‑£100 (PAYE).
• Term‑time only contract (typically 8:00 am–3:30/4:00 pm).
• Placements across mainstream and special schools in Bath and surrounding areas.
• Supportive team to guide registration and placement.
