Portage Practitioner – Early Years (Full‑time)

About the role

The Kent Portage Service delivers educational support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) aged 0‑4 across South/East Kent. You will work directly with families, early years settings and professionals to promote each child’s development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver home‑based and group learning sessions to children with SEND and their families.
• Support transitions into early years provisions and work flexibly across home, office, community and virtual settings.
• Assess child development, set targets and plan tailored interventions.
• Liaise with professionals, chair meetings and produce high‑quality reports.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent) and GCSEs (Grade 4‑9) in English.
• Strong understanding of child development and experience with very young children with SEND.
• Self‑motivated, organised and able to prioritise effectively.
• Full UK driving licence (reasonable adjustments considered).
