Postal Delivery Driver – Grays (RM17 5QB)

About the role

Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver (often called a "Postie") based at the Grays Delivery Office. You will be the face of the service, delivering letters and parcels to homes and businesses across the local area while working on a rotating shift schedule that includes weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot, covering up to 12 miles (20,000+ steps) per shift.
• Build relationships with customers and represent Royal Mail in the community.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, handling a high volume of items.
• Follow rota‑based schedules, including mandatory Sunday shifts.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Willingness and ability to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit – able to walk long distances, climb stairs or hills, and lift/carry mailbags of 10 kg or more.
• Reliable, self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Customer‑focused with pride in delivering great service.
