Postal Delivery Driver – Part‑time Fixed‑term

About the role

Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver (often called a “Postie”) and become the friendly face that brings letters and parcels to homes and businesses in Brighton. This part‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term position offers a rotating shift pattern, including weekend work, and provides full training, a uniform and an iconic red van.

Key responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the Portslade Delivery Office.
• Deliver mail and parcels by van and on foot across your assigned route.
• Build and maintain relationships with local customers.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, handling a variety of items such as exam results, birthday cards and business orders.
• Complete a weekly Sunday shift at the Hove Delivery Office (10:00‑16:00).

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Willingness and ability to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physical fitness for walking up to 12 miles per day and lifting/ carrying mailbags of 10 kg or more.
• Reliability, self‑motivation and strong organisational skills.
• Customer‑focused attitude with pride in delivering excellent service.
