Postal Delivery Driver – Part‑time Fixed‑Term

About the role

Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver (often called a "Postie") in Newcastle Upon Tyne. You will be the face of the service, delivering letters and parcels to the local community on a rotating shift schedule that includes weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the Heaton Delivery Office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot throughout your assigned route.
• Build relationships with customers and represent Royal Mail professionally.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, covering up to 12 miles (20,000+ steps) per shift.
• Handle high volumes of parcels, especially during peak periods.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Willingness and ability to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit – able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills and lift/carry mailbags of 10 kg or more.
• Reliable, self‑motivated and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Valid manual UK driving licence.
• Ability to operate a delivery van safely.
