Postperson (Postal Delivery Driver) – Part‑time Fixed‑Term

About the role

Join Royal Mail as a Postperson delivering letters and parcels across the Newton Mearns area of Glasgow. This part‑time, nine‑month fixed‑term role involves driving a Royal Mail van, walking routes and providing a friendly face for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the Newton Mearns delivery office.
• Deliver mail and parcels by van and on foot within the assigned local area.
• Build relationships with customers and represent the Royal Mail brand.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including weekends and Sundays.
• Handle up to 12 miles of walking (20,000+ steps) and lift mailbags of 10 kg or more.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) registered to your name and address.
• Willingness and ability to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit for long walks, climbing stairs/hills and lifting 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a busy, time‑pressured environment.
