Power Systems Commissioning Apprentice (Level 3)

About the role

Join Cummins Power Systems as a Power Systems Commissioning Apprentice and gain hands‑on experience commissioning diesel generator sets across the UK. You will split your week between on‑site work and study at Kirklee College, building the technical foundation needed for a career in power generation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery and commissioning of diesel generator sets, fuel systems, selective catalytic reduction systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Support engineers and technicians with fault finding, repairs, inspections and load testing.
• Monitor performance data, ensure systems operate efficiently and comply with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics and control system diagrams.
• Participate in routine maintenance schedules and shutdown activities.

Required profile

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Physics (5/B or above) and other subjects at 4/C or above.
• Desirable A‑levels in Maths, English and Mechanical Engineering.
• Interest in engineering, energy or technical work and ability to work on construction sites across the UK.
• Over 18 years of age, fit for a high‑performance environment and holder of a clean driver’s licence.
