Practice Accountant – Client Manager (Hybrid, Preston)

About the role

This permanent, hybrid position is with a fast‑growing accountancy practice in Preston. The role combines client management with core accounting, tax and advisory work, offering exposure to a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients as the primary contact for accounting, tax and advisory matters.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts, management accounts and tax returns for various business entities.
• Deliver high‑quality compliance services, meeting all statutory deadlines.
• Provide proactive business, financial and tax advice to support client growth.
• Mentor junior team members and review their work.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and financial analysis projects.
• Identify and implement process improvements and technology enhancements.
• Support managers and directors with advisory projects, client meetings and business development.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (or qualified by experience).
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts, management accounts and tax returns.
• Strong client‑facing skills with the ability to build lasting relationships.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
