Practice Accountant – Part‑Time (3‑4 days/week)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Practice Accountant to join a growing accountancy practice in Crawley. The role is part‑time (3‑4 days per week) and involves managing a diverse portfolio of SME clients across various industries.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Manage a portfolio of SME clients and act as their day‑to‑day point of contact.
• Prepare and review VAT returns, including clients operating under the CIS scheme.
• Prepare corporation tax returns and support tax planning opportunities.
• Prepare self‑assessment tax returns for directors and individuals.
• Produce management accounts and deliver financial insights.
• Review client bookkeeping records and advise on improvements.
• Support clients with Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud accounting solutions.
• Liaise with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients.
• Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.
• Assist partners and senior team members with ad‑hoc advisory projects.

Required profile

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• AAT qualification, ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, fully qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Experience preparing accounts for owner‑managed businesses.
• Good understanding of VAT, corporation tax and self‑assessment.
• Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
