Practice Operations Lead, Legal Knowledge Management & AI

About the role

The Practice Operations Lead sits within the Law Firm Advisory function and is responsible for the operational performance of the Legal Knowledge Management & AI practice. The role balances practice operations with hands‑on client delivery, ensuring the practice runs efficiently while contributing directly to engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the engagement pipeline from intake to close‑out, prioritising work, allocating resources and monitoring risk.
• Act as senior escalation point for at‑risk projects, resolving scope, resourcing or client‑side issues early.
• Lead project estimation for new opportunities, developing timelines, cost models and resourcing plans.
• Coordinate with legal and risk teams to process contracts (MSAs, PSAs, NDAs, SOWs) and ensure commercial terms reflect delivery realities.
• Deliver client engagements (approximately 50% of time) applying expertise in data, AI and knowledge management.
• Translate delivery experience into practice assets such as methodologies, playbooks and diagnostic tools.
• Identify recurring client problems suitable for productisation and drive practice development initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering data, AI or knowledge‑management projects in a consulting or professional services environment.
• Strong ability to estimate project scope, cost and resources with commercial awareness.
• Demonstrated operational ownership – managing pipelines, reporting utilisation and mitigating delivery risk.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with senior stakeholders, legal teams and junior consultants.
