Pre-Construction Manager – Hybrid – Bristol

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Pre‑Construction Manager to lead the tender process for a fast‑growing contractor in the South West. Reporting directly to the directors, you will shape how the business prices, pursues and wins new projects across a diverse portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full tender lifecycle from enquiry to submission.
• Write and coordinate bid and PQQ responses.
• Assess technical viability, flagging buildability or design concerns.
• Perform mechanical take‑offs from drawings and specifications.
• Provide technical input for pricing and submission documents.
• Ensure seamless handover of pre‑construction data to the delivery team.
• Maintain accurate records of tender activity, pipeline and outcomes.
• Support go/no‑go decisions with early cost and programme insights.
• Report regularly to the Director on bid status and commercial matters.

Required profile

• Solid mechanical engineering background.
• Hands‑on experience in pre‑construction or estimating within the M&E sector.
• Proficiency in mechanical take‑offs and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience reviewing and responding to contract documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet firm deadlines.
