About the role
We are seeking a passionate Drama Teacher to deliver engaging, age-appropriate drama lessons to Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils at a highly regarded independent preparatory school in Buckhurst Hill. The role involves inspiring young learners through storytelling, role‑play, improvisation and performance, fostering confidence and communication skills.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver dynamic drama sessions for Early Years and KS1 classes.
- Introduce fundamental dramatic techniques such as storytelling, role‑play, improvisation and movement.
- Encourage creativity, imagination and self‑expression in a supportive, inclusive environment.
- Organise and support assemblies, seasonal productions, showcases and school‑wide performances.
- Monitor pupil progress, celebrate achievements and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate drama across the wider curriculum and contribute to the school’s enrichment programme.
Required profile
- Qualified teacher with experience teaching drama to Early Years and KS1 pupils.
- Strong passion for the performing arts and ability to inspire young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school community.
Required skills
- Knowledge of age‑appropriate drama techniques and pedagogy.
- Experience planning and delivering performances, showcases and group projects.
What we offer
- Competitive salary £45,000‑£60,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
- Permanent full‑time position starting September 2026.
