Preprints Community Engagement Manager

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Community Engagement Manager to shape the voice and visibility of Elsevier’s preprint server, SSRN. You will work across marketing, communications, policy and stakeholder engagement to help researchers, authors and readers understand the value of preprints and strengthen SSRN’s reputation worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply SSRN’s public positioning, highlighting its distinctiveness for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with leadership on rebranding initiatives to increase visibility and relevance.
• Communicate the differences between preprints and journal articles clearly and consistently.
• Partner with the Policy & Partnerships Manager to promote policy developments and strategic initiatives.
• Represent SSRN in discussions with Elsevier’s central STMJ marketing team on shared campaigns.
• Maintain active relationships with all SSRN communities, informing them of platform updates and policy changes.
• Manage daily social‑media presence on LinkedIn, X, Bluesky and other channels using Sprinklr.
• Run the editorial calendar for the SSRN blog, including commissioning and writing content.

Required profile

• Demonstrated passion for connecting research communities and advancing scholarly communication.
• Experience in community engagement, marketing, communications, policy or stakeholder engagement within a research or publishing context.
• Strong ability to translate complex policy information into clear, audience‑focused messaging.
• Excellent collaboration skills for working with cross‑functional teams and external partners.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Sprinklr or similar social‑media management platforms.
