Primary Mental Health Assistant

About the role
This full‑time position supports children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing within a welcoming primary school in Calne. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to help pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one support to help pupils regulate emotions and engage in learning.
- Support children with SEMH needs, autism and additional learning needs.
- Deliver small‑group activities that build confidence, resilience and social skills.
- Use positive behaviour strategies to promote emotional regulation.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to meet individual needs.
Required profile
- Patient, empathetic and resilient attitude.
- Genuine interest in children’s mental health and development.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
- Confidence supporting children with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs.
- Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Right to work in the UK.
