Primary Resource Base Teacher (ASD/SLCN) – Full‑time Temporary

About the role

Reeson Education is partnering with a vibrant mainstream primary school in Kingston Upon Thames to hire a Primary Resource Base Teacher. You will lead a small, nurturing class of EYFS‑KS2 pupils diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social Communication needs, delivering a specialist curriculum while supporting inclusion in mainstream classes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a highly personalised curriculum adapted for learners with ASD and communication difficulties.
• Collaborate with mainstream teachers to organise “step‑out” opportunities and ensure smooth inclusion.
• Lead the implementation and monitoring of EHCP targets, documenting progress.
• Work closely with the SENCO, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists to embed specialist strategies.
• Maintain a low‑arousal classroom using visual schedules, sensory breaks and positive behaviour support.
• Supervise and mentor a team of specialist Teaching Assistants.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in a UK primary setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in Autism (ASD) and Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN).
• Experience in a resource base or SEN unit is highly desirable.
• Ability to adapt between sensory‑based learning and formal academic instruction.
• Excellent communication skills for teamwork with TAs, parents and external professionals.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and be on the Update Service.
