Primary School Teaching Assistant

About the role

Join a supportive primary school environment in Wigan as a Teaching Assistant, starting this September. You will work closely with teachers and pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs, to help children develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 support and assist with small‑group learning.
• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, age‑appropriate lessons.
• Help pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
• Assist with classroom behaviour management and create a positive learning atmosphere.
• Track and report on pupil progress where required.

Required profile

• Passion for supporting young children in a primary school setting.
• Patience, caring nature, and adaptability, especially when working with SEN pupils.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive, reliable, and eager to develop educational skills.
• Live in or able to commute to Wigan and surrounding areas.
