About the role
We are looking for a compassionate Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children with social, emotional and mental health needs in a well‑regarded primary school in Havering, London. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
- Implement behaviour‑management strategies and monitor progress.
- Help organise teaching resources and learning materials.
- Collaborate with senior staff to promote pupils’ academic and personal development.
Required profile
- Experience working with challenging behaviour or special educational needs.
- Understanding of SEMH issues and ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, resilient attitude.
- Willingness to work across KS1 and KS2 and adapt to the school’s schedule.
Required skills
- Behaviour‑management techniques.
- One‑to‑one support for children with SEMH needs.
- Ability to follow and implement educational plans.
What we offer
- Full‑time contract (Monday‑Friday, 8:30‑15:30) with a daily rate of £92‑£120.
- Long‑term fixed‑term placement until July 2027, with potential for permanent role.
