Primary SEND HLTA – SEMH Interventions

About the role

This full‑time position is based in a high‑performing primary school in Westminster, London. The Primary SEND HLTA will lead SEMH interventions, providing targeted emotional, behavioural and social support for pupils across the primary phase.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted SEMH interventions throughout the primary phase.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Collaborate closely with the SENDCo, class teachers and pastoral staff.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils both in classroom and intervention settings.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and intervention outcomes.
• Assist in implementing EHCP targets where appropriate.
• Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour‑support strategies.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND or a SEND HLTA qualification.
• Calm, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a wider support team.
• Passion for inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners.
