Primary SEND Teaching Assistant (Temporary)

About the role

We are partnering with several primary schools in Medway to provide experienced SEND Teaching Assistants from the half‑term break until the end of the academic year. The role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities within a supportive school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils with SEND, including ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Implement individualized learning plans and adapt activities to meet diverse needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to monitor progress and adjust support strategies.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom atmosphere and promote positive behaviour.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children who have special educational needs or disabilities.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour with patience and consistency.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with pupils, teachers and parents.
• Flexibility to work across multiple primary schools in the Medway area.

Required skills

• Experience supporting pupils with ADHD.
• Knowledge of strategies for managing challenging behaviour.
• Understanding of additional learning needs and inclusive practices.
