Primary Teaching Assistant – Classroom Support

About the role

Join a vibrant primary school network in South East England as a Primary Teaching Assistant. You will work alongside class teachers to create an engaging, inclusive learning environment for pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. This full‑time, term‑time position offers a clear pathway for those aspiring to become qualified teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons across core subjects.
• Lead small‑group interventions in phonics, reading and maths to boost confidence and attainment.
• Prepare teaching resources, set up displays and help manage classroom behaviour.
• Support pupils’ social and emotional development, fostering resilience and teamwork.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor pupil progress and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.

Required profile

• Proactive, energetic and able to take initiative in a busy classroom.
• Relevant experience working with children in schools, youth clubs or similar settings.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Commitment to safeguarding, with an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

Required skills

• Knowledge of primary English, maths and phonics teaching approaches.
• Ability to organise resources and manage small‑group activities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with pupils and staff.
