Primary Teaching Assistant – East Leeds School

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant East Leeds primary school. You will support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons and help children reach their full academic potential.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with daily lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Lead small‑group reading, phonics and writing interventions tailored to varied abilities.
• Provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with emotional, behavioural or SEND needs.
• Organise resources, set up equipment and maintain classroom displays.
• Ensure safety during drop‑offs, lunch and outdoor play.
• Communicate pupil progress and behavioural notes to the lead teacher.

Required profile

• Practical experience working with young children in a school, nursery or similar setting.
• Strong communication skills in spoken and written English and maths.
• Patient, warm and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and registration on the Update Service.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast‑moving, multidisciplinary team.
