Primary Teaching Assistant – Flexible Supply Role

About the role
Join the Essex team in Southend‑on‑Sea as a Primary Teaching Assistant, supporting children’s learning in a flexible supply setting. Whether you are experienced or starting your career in education, you will make a real difference in the classroom.
Key responsibilities
- Support learning by working 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils understand lessons and stay engaged.
- Remove barriers for students with additional needs (SEN, Autism, ADHD) by adapting tasks to suit individual learning styles.
- Assist the teacher with setting up activities, managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive learning environment.
- Provide emotional and social support to build confidence, independence and self‑esteem.
- Encourage interaction during play and group work to develop social skills.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with children in schools, youth work or childcare settings.
- Patient, nurturing and adaptable personality.
- Basic understanding of the Primary National Curriculum.
- Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
