Primary Teaching Assistant – Knowsley

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistants to support pupils in schools across Knowsley for the upcoming academic year. You will work closely with class teachers to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare resources and learning materials for daily lessons.
• Set up the classroom before lessons and tidy it afterwards.
• Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour.
• Assist individual pupils or small groups with reading, writing, maths and other tasks.
• Supervise pupils during break and lunch times.
• Support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Promote school policies, values and good behaviour.
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Required profile

• Enjoy working with children and display patience and empathy.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and able to support classroom learning and behaviour.
• Basic literacy and numeracy competence.
• Teaching Assistant qualification is an advantage, but recent experience with children or SEND is also welcomed.
