Principal Cloud Software Engineer

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a Principal Cloud Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of secure, resilient cloud platform capabilities for its CONNECT Core Services. Based in Cambridge with a hybrid work model, you will shape architecture, guide technical decisions and champion modern cloud engineering practices across a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design and implementation of cloud platform services on Microsoft Azure.
• Guide architecture and engineering choices for micro‑services, REST APIs, data models, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership to development teams, including design reviews and complex problem solving.
• Promote cloud technologies, modern engineering practices and AI‑assisted development tools across AVEVA.
• Collaborate with directors, architects, product owners and engineering stakeholders to align technical direction with business priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering complex enterprise or cloud platform solutions.
• Strong technical leadership background, influencing architecture and engineering direction.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality code and design outcomes.
• Experience building micro‑service or service‑oriented architectures and REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of database design, CI/CD, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud platforms.
