Principal Data Engineer – Enterprise Data Platform (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the design, development and evolution of an enterprise‑scale data platform. This hybrid position will allow you to shape the organisation's data engineering capability while working with modern cloud technologies such as Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise‑scale data platforms, pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of cloud‑based data engineering solutions.
• Define data engineering standards, best practices and governance across the organisation.
• Develop scalable data models and integration solutions to support business intelligence and analytics.
• Ensure data platforms are secure, resilient and compliant with governance requirements.

Required profile

• Commercial experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale data engineering solutions.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services and cloud‑based data platforms.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience in data modelling, ETL/ELT development and data integration.
• Experience designing scalable, secure and high‑performing data architectures.
• Understanding of data governance, security, compliance and best practice.
