Principal DevOps Engineer – SC Cleared

About the role

We are seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to join a leading consultancy delivering cutting‑edge solutions for public‑sector and defence clients. The role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne with a hybrid working model and requires active SC clearance or eligibility.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cloud‑native platforms for mission‑critical projects.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple high‑impact initiatives.
• Support production Linux environments and ensure reliability of services.
• Collaborate with development teams using Git‑based version control.
• Drive automation through CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.

Required profile

• Active Security Check (SC) clearance or eligibility.
• Based in Newcastle or able to travel there regularly.
• Proven experience in a senior or principal DevOps/Platform engineering role.

Required skills

• Strong Linux expertise (RHEL/CentOS).
• Git, GitHub and GitLab for version control.
• AWS cloud services and Terraform for IaC.
• Kubernetes and Docker container technologies.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.
• Understanding of micro‑services and cloud‑native architecture.
• Excellent communication and technical leadership abilities.
