Principal Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Power)

About the role

Join BAE Systems as a Principal Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Power team. You will lead the creation and review of design documentation, define technical requirements and ensure compliance of electrical power systems across complex defence and aerospace programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design solutions that meet agreed time, cost and quality targets.
• Manage system requirements and acceptance criteria for individual products and system‑of‑systems.
• Interpret contractual and performance requirements and support definition of acceptance events throughout design, build, integration, installation and commissioning.
• Produce design review documentation, including diagrams, specifications, calculations and justifications.
• Provide technical support for performance and acceptance activities, supplier equipment acceptance, defect resolution and change management.
• Assist in estimating scope of work and resources for bids, proposals and project planning.

Required profile

• BEng (Hons) or MEng in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or ability to satisfy CEng requirements.
• Demonstrable experience across the engineering lifecycle with knowledge of AC and DC power systems.
• Understanding of at least one area such as power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection or power electronics.
