Principal Engineer

About the role

This is a rare, high‑impact opportunity for an exceptional Principal Engineer to act as the senior technical authority within Business Systems. You will not only contribute to engineering decisions but set the overall technical direction for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the most complex and business‑critical engineering challenges.
• Shape and influence technology strategy across the company.
• Define engineering standards, architecture and best practice at scale.
• Provide technical assurance across platforms, integrations and systems.
• Mentor and inspire engineers across multiple teams, overseeing three direct reports and influencing a network of around 20 engineers.

Required profile

• Recognised technical leader capable of operating at strategic and hands‑on levels.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale engineering or architectural transformation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to translate complexity into clear direction.
• Passion for coaching, mentoring and raising engineering standards.
• Ability to balance long‑term strategic thinking with pragmatic delivery focus.
