About the role
Southwark Council is seeking a Principal Engineering Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of highways capital projects. You will guide schemes from feasibility through design, approval and construction, working closely with communities, stakeholders and elected members to deliver safe, efficient infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver highways capital projects, managing all phases from concept to construction.
- Engage with communities, consultants, contractors and elected officials to ensure project alignment with strategic priorities.
- Oversee project budgets, funding applications, procurement processes and performance monitoring.
- Prepare reports, business cases, tender documentation and funding applications.
- Ensure compliance with contract management, governance and best‑practice delivery standards.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing capital projects in highways, transport or related infrastructure.
- Strong financial management and budget monitoring capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to analyse complex information and develop practical solutions.
- Organisational talent to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
