Principal Fire Risk Assessor – North West England

About the role

We are seeking a Principal/Complex Fire Risk Assessor to join our consultancy in the North West of England. The role involves leading high‑risk fire safety assessments for residential and commercial buildings while mentoring junior assessors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complex fire risk assessments on a variety of building types, including high‑rise and mixed‑use properties.
• Produce defensible, evidence‑based reports that meet regulatory standards.
• Provide technical oversight, validation and guidance to junior assessors.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of egress, evacuation and stay‑put strategies.
• Allocate time for continuing professional development (CPD) and strategic fire safety projects.

Required profile

• Level 4 or Level 5 / Tier 3 fire risk assessor qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in complex, high‑risk fire assessments.
• Willingness to relocate to or commute within Lancashire, Cumbria, West Yorkshire or the Lake District.
• Ability to lead a team and mentor junior staff.
