Principal Java Engineer – Camunda & Microservices

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Java Engineer to join our implementation team. You will work on Camunda BPMN/DMN process automation, API integration and micro‑service orchestration for public‑sector clients, delivering secure and scalable digital services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy Camunda‑based process and decision automation solutions.
• Implement Java micro‑services, APIs and connectors within orchestration flows.
• Translate BPMN and DMN models into executable workflows and reusable components.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects and designers to refine business processes.
• Maintain automated test suites, CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments.
• Optimise Camunda engine performance and monitor workflow metrics in production.
• Participate in code reviews, peer testing and technical design discussions.
• Contribute to internal best‑practice frameworks and automation accelerators.

Required profile

• Residency in the UK for the past 5 years and willingness to obtain UK SC Security Clearance.
• Strong experience in Java software engineering and object‑oriented design.
• Proven leadership or team‑lead experience in delivering complex software projects.
• Experience working in agile delivery teams.
