Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering projects across commercial, healthcare, leisure, residential and defence sectors. The role involves leading mechanical design activities, collaborating with senior designers and supporting international project opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of new builds and refurbishments from concept through to detailed documentation.
• Coordinate with senior mechanical designers and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated solutions.
• Prepare and review design calculations, specifications and BIM models.
• Support optional overseas project assignments and travel as required.
• Maintain design standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
• Experience in a consultancy environment or similar engineering practice.
• Proven ability to work on diverse sectors such as commercial, healthcare, leisure, residential and defence.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Revit.
