Principal, Operational Risk

About the role

The Principal, Operational Risk will support the Associate Director in embedding a robust risk culture across EBRD. The role involves implementing the Operational Risk Framework, delivering key projects, and overseeing risk identification, monitoring, and remediation activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure business units identify, manage, mitigate, report and escalate operational risks in line with EBRD requirements.
• Advise and educate colleagues on their responsibilities under the operational risk policy.
• Develop and deliver the operational risk plan for selected departments, supporting MDs to improve risk culture.
• Represent Operational Risk Management in internal committees and working groups, influencing decisions with sound risk knowledge.
• Analyse incidents, produce dashboards and infographics, and report findings to senior stakeholders.
• Provide expert consultancy on risk identification, control design and key risk indicator development.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in operational risk within a banking or financial institution.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and escalate issues when necessary.
• Strong understanding of banking processes and a risk‑and‑control focused mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to champion risk culture across the organisation.
