Principal Quality Engineer

About the role

The Principal Quality Engineer will join the Quality function of a leading UK defence manufacturer, based in Barrow-in-Furness. This senior position drives compliance, continuous improvement and supports the Business Unit across a wide range of quality activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the local Quality Business Management System documentation.
• Lead investigations of non‑conformances, analyse data trends and implement corrective actions.
• Support supplier quality assurance, supplier improvements and quality enhancements.
• Produce accurate quality reports, presentations and records for internal and customer review.
• Participate in cross‑functional working groups, ensuring Learning from Experience is captured.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and EN9100 standards.
• Understanding of export control regulations such as ITAR.
• Experience with Business Management Systems and operational assurance processes.
• Proven ability to lead quality investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Commitment to Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) and responsible business practices.
