Job description
About the role
IQVIA is seeking an experienced electrophysiologist to lead its cardiac electrophysiology and translational ion channel strategy. The role combines strategic leadership of several drug discovery programmes with a meaningful presence in the laboratory, acting as a subject matter expert for clients on complex translational challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and execute the scientific strategy for cardiac electrophysiology and translational ion channel research, and act as scientific lead across multiple integrated drug discovery programmes.
- Interpret and integrate in vitro, ex vivo and translational data to guide project progression, and drive innovation in cardiac safety and translational biology approaches.
- Provide oversight for electrophysiology platforms including Qube and MEA systems, and support experimental design, execution and data interpretation.
- Lead studies using hIPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and translational cardiac models, and direct ion channel pharmacology programmes.
- Act as primary scientific contact for clients, present project updates and data packages, and manage project plans, timelines, budgets and resources.
- Mentor scientists, support recruitment and take part in interview panels.
Required profile
- PhD in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Physiology, Cardiovascular Science, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
- Significant industrial drug discovery experience.

- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary scientific teams and programmes, and strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Desirable: CRO experience, manual patch clamp expertise, broad ion channel target experience, significant publication record, and experience leading scientific strategy across multiple sites or business units.
Required skills
- Hands-on experience with automated patch clamp platforms (Qube/Sophion preferred) and MEA technologies.
- Experience with hIPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and translational cardiac models.
- Ability to turn complex scientific data into strategic programme recommendations.
What we offer
- A generous and comprehensive corporate benefits package and bonus.
