Principal Software Development Engineer (Hybrid)

About the role

Intrum is looking for a Principal Software Development Engineer to shape its customer‑facing digital platforms. You will drive technical direction across cloud‑native, micro‑service and AI‑augmented solutions while working in a highly regulated financial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Guide architecture, design and development of scalable platforms on AWS and Azure, including integrations with AWS Connect, Genesys Cloud, payments and web‑portals.
• Set engineering standards, promote cloud‑native and AI‑enabled practices, and ensure secure‑by‑design, compliance‑by‑design and privacy‑by‑design approaches.
• Mentor Software Development Engineers and Forward Deployed Engineers, fostering continuous improvement.
• Lead DevSecOps initiatives: CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, and database‑as‑code using Redgate Flyway.
• Own critical customer systems, guaranteeing resilience, observability, performance optimisation and rapid incident response.
• Collaborate with Product, Delivery, Operations and Commercial teams to define technical solutions and delivery plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering cloud‑native, micro‑service architectures at scale.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities in complex, regulated environments.
• Deep understanding of security, data privacy and compliance requirements such as UK GDPR and FCA Consumer Duty.
• Passion for modern engineering practices and AI‑driven automation.
