Principal Software Engineer - Full Stack Python/AWS

About the role

As a Principal Software Engineer in the Applied Innovation (AI) Engineering team, you will design, develop, and operate advanced AI‑enabled software solutions for JPMorgan Chase. You will work closely with software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists to deliver trusted, production‑grade products that support critical business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product owners to move AI products from prototype to production.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for analytics, model evaluation, and training, ensuring versioning, compliance and validation.
• Develop secure, high‑quality code and review/debug contributions from other team members.
• Architect and govern AI‑enabled engineering workflows (e.g., AI‑driven PR review, test generation, release readiness checks) while defining guardrails for security and resiliency.
• Identify hidden data problems, propose improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
• Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external vendors.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex software systems at scale.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to spot patterns in data and translate them into technical improvements.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a willingness to think beyond conventional approaches.
• Ability to mentor and guide senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.
