Principal Solution Architect – PI Data Infrastructure & Digital Twin

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a Principal Solution Architect to lead architecture, solution design and customer engagement for PI Data Infrastructure and AVEVA CONNECT Digital Twin initiatives. You will work with global and regional teams to deliver scalable, value‑driven industrial data solutions across sectors such as energy, mining, utilities, manufacturing, chemicals and data centres.

Key responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture, workshops, implementation planning and technical design for PI Data Infrastructure and CONNECT Digital Twin programmes.
• Engage with customers to gather requirements, manage stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
• Define architecture standards, templates, best practices and rollout approaches for multi‑site deployments.
• Collaborate with product, services, sales, pre‑sales and delivery teams to shape customer value and provide product feedback.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in solution architecture, consulting or industrial software implementation.
• Deep expertise with PI Data Infrastructure (PI Server, Asset Framework, PI Vision, PI DataLink, etc.).
• Strong industrial domain experience in asset‑intensive sectors such as energy, mining, utilities or manufacturing.
• Proven ability to lead customer workshops and translate requirements into clear system designs.

Required skills

• PI Data Infrastructure components: PI Server installation, configuration, connectivity, protocols, alerting, aggregation, Asset Framework, PI Vision, PI DataLink.
• AVEVA CONNECT capabilities: CONNECT Data, sharing, analytics, visualisation, digital twin, DataOps, AI/ML use cases.
• Industrial data connectivity: SCADA systems, OPC DA/UA, Modbus, DCS, PI Interfaces and Connectors.
• Technical development: AF SDK/.NET, PI system administration, archive management, calculations, troubleshooting, backups, operational dashboard design.
