Principal Structural Engineer – Edinburgh

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Edinburgh office and lead the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of building projects. You will work closely with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams, guiding projects from concept through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural design and delivery across sectors such as commercial, retail, banking, education, distilleries and energy infrastructure.
• Manage projects through all design stages, ensuring they meet programme, budget and quality standards.
• Produce and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers.
• Contribute to business development by maintaining client relationships and identifying repeat‑business opportunities.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
• Significant experience in the design and delivery of building structures projects.
• Experience across a range of sectors (commercial, retail, education, industrial, distilleries, energy infrastructure) is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of UK design standards and current building regulations.
• Strong communication skills.
