Principal Town Planner – Milton Keynes

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Town Planner to join a leading UK planning consultancy in Milton Keynes. This hybrid role offers the chance to shape high‑profile residential, commercial and mixed‑use projects while influencing the firm’s strategic direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning applications, appeals, development promotions and strategic land projects.
• Provide specialist planning advice to clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop and nurture client relationships, supporting business development initiatives.
• Manage project budgets, timelines and quality of delivery.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level planners, fostering team growth.

Required profile

• MRTPI status (or equivalent professional planning qualification).
• Proven experience in a planning consultancy, or a mix of consultancy and local authority work.
• Track record of delivering major or complex projects.
• Strong communication, client‑management and report‑writing abilities.
• Confidence to own projects and contribute to team expansion.
