Prison Security Escort

About the role

The Prison Security Escort works on the HMP Woodhill site, supporting the prison service and the contractor maintenance team. You will accompany and supervise contractors such as carpenters, plumbers and electricians while they carry out work inside the secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify contractor identification and ensure they have been briefed on security procedures.
• Register contractors on entry and exit, maintain a tool inventory and create a tool list.
• Escort contractors throughout the prison to their designated work areas and remain with them at all times.
• Monitor contractors while they work, confirming that tools are accounted for before leaving the area.
• Use the radio system to request movement permissions and coordinate with prison staff.

Required profile

• Good communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Safety‑conscious attitude and ability to follow strict security protocols.
• Residency in the UK for at least three years.
• Willingness and ability to pass full security vetting, including references, police checks and photo ID verification.

Required skills

• Basic use of two‑way radio communication equipment.

• £12.71 per hour with overtime at £16.89 per hour after 37.5 hours.
