Private Client Lawyer – Reading, Hybrid

About the role

We are seeking a Private Client Lawyer to join a progressive regional law firm based in Reading. The role offers a hybrid working model and the chance to manage a varied caseload of wills, probate and lasting powers of attorney while contributing to the growth of the private client department across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse private client portfolio, including wills, probate and LPAs, with a high degree of autonomy.
• Provide clear, practical legal advice and maintain exceptional client care standards.
• Support the expansion of the private client service in Ipswich, Colchester and eventually London.
• Build and nurture long‑term client relationships through a consultative approach.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices in a team‑oriented culture.
• Contribute to business development and departmental growth initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling wills, probate and powers of attorney matters.
• Excellent communication and client‑care abilities.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive attitude towards business development.
• STEP qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Values collaboration, flexibility and a modern team culture.
