Private Client Senior Solicitor / Director

About the role

We are seeking a Private Client Senior Solicitor / Director to lead and grow our Private Client department in Cambridge. You will shape strategy, manage a team and deliver high‑quality advice to high‑net‑worth families.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Private Client team, including business targets, resource planning and profitability.
• Lead fee‑earning work by handling wills, lasting powers of attorney, trusts, succession planning, inheritance tax mitigation, estate and trust administration and Court of Protection matters.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships with high‑net‑worth and international clients across generations.
• Mentor and train junior solicitors and legal executives, review work and ensure technical competence.
• Manage risk, compliance and confidentiality while staying up‑to‑date with private client law.
• Identify business development opportunities, develop referral networks and contribute to the firm’s growth agenda.

Required profile

• Proven track record as a senior private client lawyer with strong leadership and client‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex legal issues clearly.
• Commercial awareness and ability to develop new business.
• Commitment to high professional standards and regulatory compliance.
