Private Client Solicitor (Full‑time)

About the role

Join a dedicated private client team in Leatherhead, delivering expert advice on wills, trusts, probate and tax matters. The role is full‑time, based in the office with occasional travel to other locations and client meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake fee‑earning work and meet KPI targets to contribute to department profitability.
• Manage support services, including supervision of a secretary where appropriate.
• Participate in firm‑wide and departmental marketing activities.
• Supervise and train trainees, assisting with their development.
• Maintain financial control through cash‑flow management, billing and collection.
• Provide cover for other fee earners and assist the team during absences.
• Travel to client meetings in the UK and abroad, and work outside normal hours when required.
• Promote good file management, develop internal procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Good honours degree plus LPC and training contract with PSC, or SQE qualification with relevant experience, or CILEX Fellow level with LPC and PSC, admitted by the SRA.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and client‑care skills.
• Proven ability to achieve chargeable‑hour targets and develop a client/referrer base.
• Experience supervising junior staff and contributing to practice development.
• Computer literate with a willingness to enhance use of technology in legal work.
• Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality and regulatory compliance.

What we offer

• Salary range £45,000‑£52,000 per year (visible).
• Potential earnings up to £70,000 with performance bonus of up to 7% of gross salary.
• 5% employer pension contribution.
• Death in service benefit of four times annual salary.
