Private Client Solicitor Head of Department

About the role

As Head of Department for Private Client services, you will lead a multi‑office team, providing strategic direction while continuing to manage your own portfolio of wills, trusts, probate and tax matters for individuals and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and foster a collaborative culture across the department.
• Oversee delivery of high‑quality private client legal services in several offices.
• Maintain and develop your own caseload of wills, estate administration, trusts, tax and succession planning matters.
• Identify and drive business development opportunities to grow the practice.
• Supervise complex legal work, ensuring compliance and exceptional client service.
• Manage, mentor and develop the legal team.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience as a private client solicitor.
• Proven track record of leading and developing successful legal teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and business development capability.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership style.

Required skills

• Expertise in wills, probate, estate administration and succession planning.
• Experience with trusts (highly desirable).
• Ability to supervise complex legal work.
