Private Client Tax Assistant Manager

About the role

Butler Rose, a top‑10 accountancy practice, is looking for a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join its Cambridge office. This role offers a chance to manage a portfolio of private clients, deliver high‑quality tax compliance work and develop technical expertise in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of private client tax compliance assignments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Review personal tax returns prepared by junior team members and provide technical advice on complex matters.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and prepare draft fee proposals.
• Maintain strong client relationships, attend pre‑year‑end meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, propose additional fees where scope changes, and review final tax packs before issuance.
• Support recruitment, mentor junior colleagues and deliver technical training.
• Contribute to business development, networking events and CSR activities.

Required profile

• CTA qualified or qualified by experience (ATT, ACA, ACCA, CA).
• Previous experience in a private client tax role within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK private client tax and compliance.
• Proven ability to manage a client portfolio and meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
