Private Client Tax Senior

About the role

We are supporting a well‑established accountancy firm in Guildford that is looking for a Private Client Tax Senior. You will manage a portfolio of private clients, trusts and partnerships, delivering high‑quality tax services and ensuring client expectations are exceeded.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit annual tax returns for delegated clients.
• Liaise with HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients.
• Handle a wide range of personal tax assignments, including tax forecasting, residence and domicile considerations, capital gains tax planning and enquiry work.
• Respond to client issues and queries, maintaining regular contact.
• Manage your own portfolio, raise bills and ensure timely delivery.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines.
• Provide support to Managers and Partners on their portfolios and ad‑hoc projects.
• Train and supervise junior staff.

Required profile

• Strong team mentality with the ability to work independently.
• ATT/CTA qualification or significant experience working in tax.
• Previous experience in a private client/personal tax environment, preferably in practice.
• Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to manage a busy client portfolio.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem‑solving abilities.
• Confident, adaptable communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive, determined and client‑service focused.

Required skills

• ATT/CTA qualification or equivalent tax experience.
• Experience in private client/personal tax work.
• Good working knowledge of tax preparation software and HMRC online services.
