Process Design Engineer – Cooling & Heat Exchanger Systems

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Process Design Engineer to join our Product Development team in Fareham. You will be responsible for designing innovative cooling distribution units, pump skids and heat‑exchanger support systems for a global manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop cooling distribution units (CDUs), pump skids and mechanical plant‑room solutions.
• Create, review and optimise Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Conduct technical analysis of industrial system designs, focusing on heat‑exchanger support.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams and customers to deliver application‑specific solutions.
• Generate design‑to‑cost initiatives and support product transfer projects across multiple sites.
• Manage engineering changes, prototype testing and continuous improvement activities.
• Represent the business in customer meetings, site visits and collaborative projects.

Required profile

• Experience in process, mechanical or product design engineering.
• Strong understanding of industrial system design principles and ability to interpret P&IDs.
• Proven project management and organisational abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary, global teams.

• Autodesk Inventor
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) – advantageous
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) – advantageous
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
