Procurement Manager – Build a Function from Scratch

About the role

We are seeking a Procurement Manager to build a brand‑new procurement function for an established engineering company in Mid Kent. This six‑month fixed‑term role offers the chance to design and implement procurement strategy from the ground up, with the potential to become permanent as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and roll out a comprehensive procurement strategy, processes and controls.
• Take ownership of supplier relationships, monitor performance and manage contracts.
• Lead sourcing activities, negotiate terms and oversee contract management.
• Identify cost‑reduction and value‑creation opportunities across the supply chain.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support operational needs and market expansion.

Required profile

• Proven procurement experience in a technical, engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to set up or improve procurement processes.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Self‑motivated, able to work autonomously and own a new function.
